Braces & clear aligners

Straighten crooked, crowded or gapped teeth, and improve your bite. Dr. Bhavsar has completed a 120-hour course in fixed orthodontics and a hands-on clinical workshop in clear aligners.

Fixed braces

Small brackets are bonded to your teeth and joined by a wire that gently moves teeth into place.

Duration12–24 monthsCheck-upsevery 4–6 weeks

Good to know

  • Suit most cases, including complex ones
  • Work all the time, so they don't depend on you remembering to wear them
  • You'll need to avoid hard and sticky foods
  • Clean carefully around brackets after every meal

Clear aligners

A series of clear, removable trays, each changed every 1–2 weeks, moves your teeth step by step.

Wear20–22 hours a dayDurationdepends on the case

What happens

  1. A digital scan of your teeth is taken with the intraoral scanner
  2. Your treatment is planned and the aligners are made
  3. You switch to a new set of aligners as instructed
  4. Regular check-ups track your progress

Aligners only work while you wear them. Take them out only to eat, drink anything other than water, and brush.

Braces or aligners?

Both straighten teeth. The doctor will tell you which suits your teeth.

After treatment: retainers

Teeth tend to drift back after straightening. A retainer holds them in their new position.

Good to know

  • Retainers can be fixed (a thin wire behind the teeth) or removable
  • Wear them exactly as advised, especially in the first year
  • Bring them to your check-ups
